Rooting and customizing the Droid X
Rooting and customizing the Droid X was quite an experience. We managed in the end to do it however. There are plenty of customized roms available for the Droid X, but I was interested in primarily two of them. A rooted Gingerbread rom, that would allow you to get rid of some of the plethora of bugs that Motorola hasn't fixed, and of course, the new up and coming Cyanogenmod for the Droid X.
Still here
It's been a couple of months since I posted anything, but I really am still here. I just haven't really had much to talk about. I'm thinking, and I'll post something worthwhile in a day or so. Meanwhile, a word from our sponsor.
hypocrisy?
I'm noticing, yet again a problem in the Christian church. Is it just me? Why is it that the extreme fundamentalist church calls those in the GLBT community sinners, yet is unwilling to do any sort of witnessing to them? I don't personally believe that there is any sin in being GLBT, but here's a quick thought experiment from the fundamentalist right point of view.
I'm so scholarly!
You know, I've been reading facebook posts and blog posts this evening quite a lot. In fact, I've read far more than my share of them, as well as comment pages to blogs, news articles, new commentary, and so on. You name it. One thing stands out as being constant in all of them.
oxymoron
I had to laugh, but at the same time I'm disgusted. I was browsing facebook earlier (don't ask me why... it's always frustrating) and ran across a comment. Someone had dissed a republican politician, and someone else chimed in with a bad word about a democratic politician, and then it turned into a knockdown dragout for a few posts. Both were using overgeneralizations, and neither one said anything that the talking heads on both sides haven't said about the other. You could tell that they were both parroting what they'd heard.
teaching
Well, I'm doing something new now. I was asked to teach a 101 level biblical greek class for the Casa Seminary. I was quite suprised when I was asked, but pleased as well. I said yes, and so for the last few weeks I've been studying greek myself, to refamiliarize myself with anything I've forgotten. I've taught two classes now. They went quite well I thought. The first was better, but the second went okay too. I assigned some homework for this week, so hopefully my students will be able to get through it okay. I gave them all the tools they needed. I suppose I'll get phone calls if there is a problem.
new server
Hi, well it's been a few days, but I honestly had nothing to say. Things have been pretty much the same for the last few weeks since the holiday, but the last few days have been interesting.
holiday season
I still don't have anything really new to write about, but I need to get a post out. Lately, we've been getting ready for Christmas. We got all of our shopping done, and this weekend, we'll get everything wrapped and ready for Christmas.
linux
I wanted to do a quick update about my linux mint experience. I'm still liking it, and still happy I went to mint. As far as a working laptop distribution, it's definitely the best I've found. It's stable, and everything works and works right. Hardware support on my macbook is superb.
linux mint
I'm now using Linux Mint and loving it. It's one of the best linux distributions I've used, and I've used most of them.
